Indigenous talent, on stage in proud celebration at an annual cabaret event.

2-Spirit Cabaret: 9th Edition

For one night only, on Thursday, June 12, 2025, Native Earth Performing Arts, in partnership with Buddies in Bad Times Theatre, presents the annual 2-Spirit Cabaret, produced as part of Buddies’ Queer Pride 2025. A celebration of the strength, beauty and talent of queer and 2-Spirit Indigenous people.

The 2-Spirit Cabaret is back for its 9th edition!

Hosted by digital creator Kai Potts (Winkte), the 2-Spirit Cabaret will begin with DJ KIMIWAN spinning through a community gathering full of music, plus food from Indigenous catering company Dashmaawaan Bemaadzinjin, followed by a titillating mix of music, dance, drag, burlesque and comedy performances.

Come by before the show for a community reception with food and music by DJ KIMIWAN

The evening’s festivities will feature drag performer Faux Rocious (Red River Métis), comedian Meg MacKay (Mi’kma’ki), multidisciplinary artist Jay ‘Nickel-Black’ Northcott, storyteller Dillan Meighan-Chiblow (Ojibwe) and burlesque superstar Madame Ode’Miin Surprise (Anishinaabe Kwe).

About Native Earth Performing Arts

Native Earth Performing Arts is Canada’s oldest professional Indigenous performing arts company. Currently in their 42nd year, they are dedicated to developing, producing and presenting professional artistic expressions of the Indigenous experience in Canada. Through stage productions (theatre, dance and multi-disciplinary art), new script development, apprenticeships and internships, Native Earth seeks to fulfill a community of artistic visions. It is a vision that is inclusive and reflective of the artistic directions of members of the Indigenous community who actively participate in the arts.

About Buddies in Bad Times Theatre

Established in 1979, Buddies in Bad Times Theatre is the world’s largest and longest-running queer theatre. For 46 years, Buddies has carved out a sexy, disobedient edge in Toronto’s theatre scene and has been a world leader in amplifying queer voices and developing their stories for the stage. In its year-round theatre season, Buddies is a home for artistic risk – a place where emerging talent hone their radical visions, and where established artists do the daring works other theatres might shy away from. Since 1979, Buddies has welcomed over one million audience members and premiered over 1,000 new works for the stage.
