TOFringe: Me and You and the Highland Coo

From Wednesday, July 2 to Sunday, July 13, 2025 – Happy as a Clam Productions presents Me and You and the Highland Coo* at Soulpepper’s TD Studio as part of the 2025 Toronto Fringe Festival. Experience a taste of Scotland in Toronto on a road trip adventure that reminds us to look for the light in times of darkness.

While waiting for bad news from family back in Canada, Jackie and Charlie set off on a trip across Scotland. The mission: to find the perfect Highland cow plushie. With carpool karaoke, trivia and too many snacks, what could go wrong?

When the world feels like it’s falling apart, can a Highland coo really save the day?

Best friends Jackie and Charlie, two Canadian students studying in Scotland, embark on a road trip through the Highlands to find a coveted 3-foot-tall Highland cow plushie. As they banter, navigate Scottish quirks, and involve the audience in their interactive journey, the road trip becomes more than just a quest for a stuffed animal – it’s an escape from the difficult realities they’ve both been avoiding.

Charlie is anxiously waiting for news about her brother’s mental health crisis back home, while Jackie is secretly withholding life-changing information about her ability to return to Canada and be with her terminally ill father. Along the way, they confront grief, change and what it means to be there for each other when life pulls them in opposite directions. With humor, heart and audience participation, Me and You and the Highland Coo explores friendship, loss and the magic of choosing your path – even when it leads you somewhere unexpected.

About the creative team

When she moved to Scotland, producer, creator and director Sara Masciotra-Milstein fell in love with its landscapes, people and culture. But when tragedy struck back home, her newfound friends became her family, united in their shared experiences of living abroad. She wrote Me and You and the Highland Coo as a love letter to her friends and the place they called home: Scotland. A writer for immersive experiences with Disneyland Paris, Masciotra-Milstein draws upon her own experiences living abroad to create a show that is intimate, magical and hopeful.

In her capacity as director, Masciotra-Milstein is assisted by Abi Sanie; and the cast features Amy Ring, Brooklyn Melnyk and Jeremy Lewis.
