& a chance for forgiveness as a singer faces a past she’d rather forget.

Dear Ms. Kitt

From Wednesday, August 20 to Sunday, August 24, 2025 – Hard-Bitten Productions presents the Canadian premiere of Dear Ms. Kitt. Written by Chantel Winters, it’s a powerful and tender family drama about guilt, identity and accountability, held together with a little girl’s love of Eartha Kitt. Running at Native Earth’s Aki Studio.

An unexpected inheritance awaits a singer’s homecoming

After nearly a decade abroad, Nina, an estranged singer, returns home after learning of her mother’s death. She hopes to recharge her singing career with her inheritance, only to discover she’s inherited more than she expected. Forced to confront a past she tried to forget, Nina has to learn to forgive before it’s too late.

After being selected for New York’s 2019 Broadway Bound Theatre Festival, this production comes to Toronto under the direction of the multi-talented Chantal Forde, with a cast featuring Jenae Fairclough, Edgar George and Amanda Whyte.

About Hard-Bitten Productions

Hard-Bitten Productions is a Toronto-based theatre company that pushes boundaries and provokes thought through the content and form of theatre they produce. Their passion is evident in the stories they tell – and their mission is to engage audiences to think, laugh and feel harder. They create space for emerging artists to flex their artistic biceps, take risks and experiment. As an ensemble committed to inclusivity, they want to create a supportive and growing community of artists with whom to share stories.

Three Black actors dressed in black pose together in a triangular composition, all smiling at us. Two women, one with long tight curls crouches at the left; the other, hair tied up on top of her head, stands in the centre, leaning toward her castmates. To the right sits a man, bald with beard and moustache.
