The second or third Wednesday of every month, Replay Storytelling hosts a true storytelling event, featuring a new theme each month. It’s an inclusive show that welcomes everyone to submit a story – experienced and new storytellers alike – and invites audiences to come out to hear them told. Presented at Burdock Music Hall on Bloor St. West.
Submit a story to tell
For each show, organizers pick a theme (e.g., second chances, unsung love, when we were kids); invite anyone to submit a true, personal story drawn from their life; and then select six to seven people to share those moments live on stage. Stories should be about seven to 10 minutes long, which is about three pages written out (with the exception of their short story show, Fast Forward, where stories must be 2 minutes or less).
How it works
They encourage and support new storytellers, giving them a chance to step into the spotlight. Regardless of experience – from first-time storytellers to seasoned professionals – for each show, they pair chosen storytellers with one of their producers to help shape the story for the stage. It’s a collaborative process, designed to give storytellers an outside ear and useful feedback. Organizers want the stories to feel raw and organic, so when storytellers present their story on stage, they’re asked to do so without notes. The storyteller honorarium is C$40.00 per story (with the exception of Fast Forward, where all earnings are donated to a local charity in Toronto).
For more info on submitting a story, see their FAQ page.

“If you have a story you want to tell, but aren’t sure if it fits with one of our themes, send it to us, we’ll be able to find the right place for it!”
– Replay Storytelling
Whether you’re telling a story or not, they invite you to join them for an evening of all true-life stories – on themes from new beginnings and starting from scratch, to heartfelt tales of raw emotion and the beauty of everyday love, to memories of a 10th birthday, and more.
About Replay Storytelling
Launched in 2016, Replay Storytelling is a live show based in Toronto, where people tell true personal stories from their own lived experience, replayed from the memories they hold, in a safe and open space for sharing vulnerable moments. They encourage and support new storytellers, prioritizing BIPOC and 2SLGBTQAI+ performers and their stories. Since its launch, the show has become an integral and welcome part of the Toronto, Canadian and global storytelling communities. They’ve collaborated and worked with CBC, Soulpepper Theatre, Crossroads Theatre, the Toronto International Storytelling Festival and Toronto Metropolitan University. In 2020, they founded the world’s first 24-hour True Storytelling Festival, bringing together (online) over 120 storytellers from around the world to share personal true stories from their own lived experiences. In 2024, they launched Replay Story Fest – a storytelling festival in Toronto celebrating our personal journeys through the stories we share. Read more about them and their team here.
