Congrats on 10 years, WEP! Congrats on 10 years, WEP!

A community newspaper celebrates its 10th anniversary with a party & concert at a storied venue.

West End Phoenix: Seasons in the Sun Fall Concert

One night only – Friday, September 25, 2026 – The West End Phoenix presents Seasons in the Sun, a fall concert and party to mark their 10th anniversary! Presented at Palais Royale.

Celebrating 10 years of the West End Phoenix

Hosted by legendary broadcaster Ron MacLean, Seasons in the Sun celebrates a decade of community-powered journalism. The stacked roster of Canadian talent includes WEP Editor-In-Chief and musician Dave Bidini, Canadian singer-songwriter Ron Sexsmith, Canadian vocalist and songwriter Shakura S’Aida, and many more, all backed by Ian Goodtimes and the Sundowners. Each artist will cover a beloved Canadian classic in a tribute to Canada’s rich musical past and present.

“Local, independent journalism is more urgent than ever before, something to be protected and celebrated, and what better way to do that than coming together to revel in the community we build together.”

– West End Phoenix, on the occasion of their 10th anniversary celebration

More than an anniversary party, this is a decade-long victory lap for independent media and a celebration of community storytelling and creative collaboration. As local news organizations continue to disappear across North America, the West End Phoenix stands as a reminder that journalism can still thrive when communities support what matters.

Join the West End Phoenix for an unforgettable evening celebrating 10 years of thriving independent journalism, and help support them as they move forward. All proceeds help support the work they do.
