Go Fish!

On her last day, an old woman becomes a witness to her past as she prepares to let go. She separates and compartmentalizes all the women she has been at different stages in her life. In her solitude, she imagines each of these past versions of herself coming together to play the card game Go Fish. Each part of who she was will be reincarnated, and the audience will choose which version of her past self gets to tell their story before they move on to their next life.

Go Fish! is a two-act work-in-progress by actor, singer and emerging playwright Carolyn Fe. Hosted by Festival Accès Asie, the reading will feature Act 1 of the play, performed in the form of a theatrical reading by five women over the age of 45, in English only.

About Carolyn Fe

Former Montrealer, now Toronto-based artist, Carolyn Fe is a Filipino-Canadian actress, writer, music performer and a later-in-age emerging playwright who recently made waves in Teesri Duniya Theatre’s Fireworks Playwrights Mentorship Showcase. Her play Go Fish! was originally written as part of Toronto’s Tarragon Theatre’s educational program, and then expanded upon under Teesri’s dramaturgical mentorship. Carolyn wrote this play to bring a realistic representation of older women of colour to the stage and, in doing so, raise the voices of a demographic that’s continually pushed aside.

With thanks to Ontario Arts Council, Toronto Arts Council, Teesri Duniya Theatre and Tarragon Theatre for their support in the creation of Go Fish!
