The 20th anniversary of Hamilton’s annual literary festival!
From Wednesday, April 17 to Sunday, April 21, 2024, join gritLIT at the Homewood Suites By Hilton, Hamilton and online for the 20th anniversary of its annual Readers & Writers Festival. Programming includes readings, panels and interviews – offering a view into the minds of some of the most interesting writers working in Canada today, such as writer & performance artist Kai Cheng Thom, poet Canisia Lubrin and the 2023 Governor General’s Literary Award winner for fiction, Hamilton-based writer Anuja Varghese.
The festival also includes limited enrollment interactive events, like the Flash Fiction Writing Contest and Book Club; and writing workshops (75–90 minutes long) on such topics as writing a scene and financing a writing career, which offer a chance to learn the tricks of the trade from some of the best authors in the country. Find tips on attending the festival here.
“gritLIT brings the best contemporary Canadian writers to Hamilton to engage with local booklovers, to inspire and to be inspired by Hamilton authors, to promote a love of reading in young audiences and to celebrate the exchange of diverse ideas, experiences and viewpoints.”
