Poetry Night at Station Gallery

Words to fill your soul, surrounded by art

For one night only, on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, The Ontario Poetry Society presents Poetry Night at Station Gallery, a free community event hosted by Durham Region Branch Manager for The Ontario Poetry Society, Lisa Reynolds, assisted by poet and author John Oughton, and a team of community volunteers, featuring guest poet/MC Patrick Connors.

Held at Station Gallery – a historic former Whitby train station turned art gallery and creative hub – with the support of the gallery’s Curator Olex Wlasenko and Executive Director Natasha Downes – this is an all-ages event, with featured poets reading from their work.

Honourable guest poet/MC Patrick Connors (a 2024 featured poet) will be joined by esteemed poets Lillian Allen, Allan Briesmaster, I.B. (Bunny) Iskov, Keith Garebian, Kate Rogers and Stuart Ross.

During intermission, there will be free refreshments, including coffee from a local Tim Hortons and sweet treats courtesy of an anonymous benefactor. Attendees will have the opportunity to mingle with poets and purchase their books. There will also be door prizes and a raffle, with all proceeds from the raffle being donated to Youth Programs at Station Gallery.

About Station Gallery

Station Gallery is a community creative hub and registered charity located in Whitby, Ontario (Durham Region) – a former train station converted into an art gallery and arts event space, featuring art exhibitions from emerging, mid-career and established artists. It brings art and culture to kids, youth, adults and families of all ages and abilities through programs, classes and workshops, performances and special events. Station Gallery was the winner of the Whitby Chamber of Commerce Not for Profit Organization of the Year 2023 (Peter Perry & Business Achievement Awards).
