Spotlight at The Second City: October

On Tuesday, October 14 and Wednesday, October 15, 2025 – Toronto Sketch Comedy and The Second City Toronto present the October edition of Spotlight at The Second City, featuring $20 Sandwich and Sarah Bennett, at The Second City’s Theatre ‘73.

Each month, Spotlight at The Second City will feature two celebrated troupes performing polished 30-minute sets for a two-show run. The Second City Toronto will open its doors to the next generation of sketch for audiences to enjoy a double-header sketch show. Hosted and produced by Taylor Hreljac and Gabe Meacher, this series presents sketch comedy’s best troupes in their best light.

Two acts, one amazing night of fresh comedy

After a successful launch of this new monthly series in September, October’s line-up will showcase $20 Sandwich, featuring Brennan Ashbridge, Tony Hall, Shaun Hunter and Chase Jeffels; and Sarah Bennett.

The shows are on one Tuesday and Wednesday per month, and the next events in the series will be on November 18 & 19 and December 9 & 10, 2025. Check back on The Second City Toronto website for details and tickets for future dates.

“It is a rare opportunity for sketch troupes to perform their feature-length shows more than once outside of the festival circuit. We partnered with The Second City to create this monthly show where established and emerging sketch troupes, that the whole scene is excited about, can show their best stuff to industry and audiences on a professional stage.”

About Toronto Sketch Comedy

Co-run by collaborators and producers Taylor Hreljac and Gabe Meacher, Toronto Sketch Comedy is a grassroots hub for live sketch in the city. They are a steady presence in Toronto’s comedy scene, creating space for emerging performers and championing original work. You may have seen their writing and performances at Just For Laughs, Toronto Sketch Comedy Festival and NYC Sketchfest. Their work blends character-driven comedy with a deep commitment to building community and keeping live comedy thriving.

About $20 Sandwich

$20 Sandwich, featuring Brennan Ashbridge, Tony Hall, Shaun Hunter and Chase Jeffels, is a sketch troupe known for their viral reels that have amassed tens of millions of views across TikTok and Instagram. Their show $20 Sandwich IRL (In Reel Life) is a collection of all new sketches that are too crazy/convoluted/long-winded/hilarious for the internet. Between the four of them they have podcasted, written for and been on TV, studied clown in France, performed comedy intercontinentally, won awards and/or competitions – and were almost on Chopped Canada Junior.

About Sarah Bennett

Sarah Bennett brings a half hour of solo sketch comedy that is NOT cringe. Audiences can expect absurd, smart characters from her twisted Joker-like mind. Joker-Harlequin-like mind. She tackles topics like credit card point systems, slime and what it means to be a boy in grade 8. Sarah Bennett is a “tritruple” threat in stand-up, improv, sketch comedy, and being a strange and endearing girl with credits, including JFL42, Toronto Sketch Festival, The Next Act Festival, Toronto Fringe, Sketch to the Death and Amazon Prime’s Overcompensating. She produces and performs all over Toronto and has been described as “having energy to lift a building”.
