One night only – on Monday, June 30, 2025, the Doras celebrate the outstanding theatre, dance and opera that filled Toronto stages last season.
You’re invited to Toronto’s performing arts party of the year!
Hosted by celebrated theatre actor Peter Fernandes – who this year received the second Outstanding Performance Dora Award nomination of his career, for Fat Ham (Canadian Stage) – the night’s festivities will include many special guests. Join the city’s artistic community to rub elbows with Toronto’s most acclaimed stage artists, with red carpet interviews, VIP guests, musical performances and a super fun party – all in one space.
This year, there were 225 nominations across 43 gender-inclusive award categories within seven divisions reflecting the remarkable artistry of the 2024-25 season. This year’s nominations encompass 81 shows from 59 registered companies. Productions with multiple nods include: Mahabharata, Life After, Last Landscape, FLEX, Mukashi, Mukashi (Once Upon a Time), A Strange Loop and Wicked Nix (Theatre); everything i wanted to tell you (but couldn’t, so here it is now) and Big Time Miss (Dance); La Reine-garçon, Madama Butterfly and Aportia Chryptych: A Black Opera for Portia White (Opera). Check out the full list of 2025 nominees here.
Vote for your favourite show!
Voting is now open for the annual Jon Kaplan Audience Choice Award, in honour of the beloved, long-time theatre writer, sponsored by Now Toronto. The public can vote here for their favourite show from the list of Outstanding Production nominees across all divisions, or they can write in their own, until Monday, June 23 at midnight.

About the Dora Mavor Moore Awards
The Doras are named for Dora Mavor Moore (1888-1979), a well-loved teacher and director who helped establish Canadian professional theatre in the 1930s and 1940s. Recognizing the outstanding achievements in Toronto’s performing arts industry, the Doras honour the creators of numerous theatre, dance and opera productions annually in the following divisions: General Theatre, Independent Theatre, Musical Theatre, Dance, Opera, Theatre for Young Audiences, Touring and Innovation.
The Dora Awards are peer-nominated by respected members of Toronto’s professional performing arts community. Jurors include performers, designers, directors, producers, administrators, arts educators and more, representing a spectrum of ages, gender identities, sexualities, experience, training, cultural and ethnic backgrounds, and company affiliations.
The Doras are administered by the Toronto Alliance for the Performing Arts (TAPA). Other programs and services provided by TAPA include: advocacy (Annual Arts Week at the City), hipTIX (offering $10 tickets to students between the ages of 14 and 29), TAPA RBC Emerging Artists Mentorship Program (TREAM) and the professional development TAPA Trade Series.
