The Blasted Tree 10th Anniversary Party

It’s The Blasted Tree’s 10th anniversary!

And there’s going to be a party on Thursday, September 12 at Loophole Coffee Bar! This event will also celebrate the launch of two new books, Game Genie Poems by Kevin Stebner and HAVANA SYNDROME by Sacha Archer, with readings, live music and plenty of revelry. There will also be books and chapbooks for sale in support of The Blasted Tree’s 2024 fundraising drive – they’re on their way to reaching their goal, but still need your help! You can also purchase books and donate online.

The company’s name inspired by the image of a tree struck by lightning, Calgary-based art collective and small press publisher The Blasted Tree was founded in 2014 by author, editor and publisher Kyle Flemmer as a platform for Canadian authors and artists. Focused on experimental writing by Canadian and international authors, they produce chapbooks, short collections, leaflets and broadsides featuring poetry and visual poetry, short fiction, creative non-fiction, drama and multimedia art – spotlighting unique works, in terms of both practice and vision.
