Dahlia Katz

Dahlia Katz is an award-winning photographer based in Toronto. She’s also a theatre director and the head editorial photographer at Intermission Magazine and has 20+ years’ experience working in the Toronto theatre community.

In studio I’m a host, a guide, an artist, and a listener. I endeavour to discover truths, and have a meaningful connection that will resonate through the photos I take. On location I’m engaged, respectful, playful, observant, and professional. I relish opportunities to collaborate with my subjects and their environment without disturbing it.

– Dahlia Katz

Her services include headshots and she has several session packages available, including optional hair and makeup services. Sliding scale rates may be available; please contact Dahlia at: dahliakatz@gmail.com to confirm. She does theatre production stills (photos taken during a dress rehearsal or performance) and promotional photographs (photos for print, website, social media, etc.), including basic graphic design; portraits and family photos; as well as photography for weddings, events and celebrations; plus for products, food and interiors.

Her theatre clients have referred to her as a “ninja”, as she’s able to navigate the performance space and onstage action skillfully, quickly and independently as she works. No matter what she’s photographing, she loves capturing both the compelling and little moments, making for a job well done and resulting in images that resonate.

What we like about this photographer

If you’ve been to a theatre performance in Toronto or visited a Toronto theatre company’s website to check out what’s on, you’ve seen Dahlia Katz’s photographs. Her skillful eye and navigation of the action onstage make for beautiful and captivating results. She doesn’t just take photographs, she genuinely connects with the moments and subjects she observes – and it shows.

Her images can be powerful, playful or poignant – and always stunning. In fact, we love Dahlia’s work so much, we’ve commissioned her to do many of our product and lifestyle photographs. And Cate looks forward to an upcoming headshot session with her. (Written by C.M.)
