Get a taste of papermaking

in this short, five-hour introduction to a longer, more intensive class.

Intro to Papermaking Short Class

On Saturday, November 18, 2023, learn how to make your own paper in this one-day, five-hour workshop – encapsulating the first day of the longer, more intensive class – at Paperhouse Studio, located in Toronto at Artscape Youngplace. All materials will be included. This is a beginner-level class, with a limit of 6 participants.

About the workshop

This one-day, five-hour class covers the material from the first day of the Introduction to Papermaking Intensive class. Participants will make paper with different sizes and styles of mould and deckles, and learn how to pull sheets using fibres such as cotton and abaca. Participants will also get an introduction to laminating, shaped sheets and inclusions, with the opportunity to bring in their own found materials to use in class. By the end of the class, participants will have 15-30 hand-pulled custom sheets of paper and enough knowledge to continue exploring papermaking at the intermediate level.
