The first Friday of every month: First Friday Peterborough presents their monthly art crawl event around downtown Peterborough. Enjoy the city’s multifaceted, creative culture with a self-guided tour of galleries, studios, shops and cafés. Each month is different – you never know what you’ll stumble across.
Once a month: Take Cover Books hosts a Film Club at their shop in Peterborough. You are cordially invited to join and come out to watch this month’s movie pick. Sign up for notifications of upcoming screenings. Plus, they have Film Club t-shirts!
The fourth Monday of every month: Necessary Arts Collective & Otherwise Studios host Crit Nights, a monthly art critique facilitated by Guelph-based artist Paige Bromby that brings together local painters, sculptors, printmakers & other artists to engage in a critical dialogue about each other's work. Artists are encouraged to bring an in-progress or complete artwork to share with the group.
Seasonal courses, with one session a month (fourth Monday) for three months: ARTiculations Art Supply invites you to explore drawing and wet media on washi papers from the comfort of your own studio or home in their online Washi Drawing Club.
On the second Monday of every month: ARTiculations Art Supply owner Heather Phillips facilitates a monthly online sketchbook meetup. Open to all levels, this one-hour facilitated session offers a supportive space to draw, share and connect. No formal instruction, just inspiration and encouragement. For adults. Free. The first Friday of every month, join Killer B Cinema hosts Lizzie Violet & Zoltan Du Lac at See-Scape in the Junction for screenings of B-movies from the 1950s to the 1990s, featuring horror, sci-fi, cult films, foreign language adaptations & more. Plus previews & retro & vintage pre-show cartoons! For adults 19+.
PAST EVENT: Two days only - Sat, Oct. 25 & Sun, Oct. 26, 2025: The Nia Centre for the Arts presents the third edition of their annual Black Art Fair. This time, it’s going to be bigger than ever, showcasing 30+ Black Canadian artists from all career stages from across the country – connecting artists with collectors, curators & art lovers nationwide.
PAST EVENT: One night only – Fri, Sep. 26, 2025: The Downtown Kingston BIA presents Art After Dark, offering attendees the chance to explore downtown Kingston’s art galleries & art-loving shops as they stay open late. Art, jewelry & vintage clothing; local music, food & beverages, plus workshops & a chance to win $500 toward the purchase of an original artwork!
PAST EVENT: Two days only – Sat, Sep. 27 & Sun, Sep. 28, 2025: The Art Gallery of Peterborough presents the 41st annual Kawartha Autumn Studio Tour, a free, self-guided behind-the-scenes look at artists’ studios around Peterborough & the Kawarthas. As artists share their work & workspaces, visitors can watch artist demonstrations & learn about different artistic practices & techniques.
PAST EVENT: From Thu, Jun. 12 – Sun, Aug. 24, 2025: Toronto Outdoor Picture Show (TOPS) presents their 15th anniversary festival of open-air cinema programming. Screenings take place over 20 evenings throughout the summer at three parks across Toronto: Fort York, Christie Pits and Corktown Common. This year’s theme is When We Were Young – a throwback to their inaugural programme, featuring beloved coming-of-age films.
