Toronto Outdoor Picture Show 2025

PAST EVENT: From Thu, Jun. 12 – Sun, Aug. 24, 2025: Toronto Outdoor Picture Show (TOPS) presents their 15th anniversary festival of open-air cinema programming. Screenings take place over 20 evenings throughout the summer at three parks across Toronto: Fort York, Christie Pits and Corktown Common. This year’s theme is When We Were Young – a throwback to their inaugural programme, featuring beloved coming-of-age films.

PAST EVENT: One night only – Thu, May 29, 2025: The Elora Centre for the Arts hosts Breaking Boundaries: Using Limitations to Expand Creativity in Painting, a painting workshop exploring what happens when you limit your choices of things like colour, process and tools. Only 12 spaces available. For participants age 16+. No experience necessary.

This exhibit brings together works that feature historical & symbolic references from Chinese and Chinese American/Canadian culture, to explore how images & language evolve as they traverse time and geography.

PAST EVENT: Four days only! From Thu, Apr. 24 – Sun, Apr. 27, 2025: The Toronto Ukrainian Film Festival (TUFF) presents its 3rd annual festival at the Royal Cinema. Featuring a lineup of remarkable films and documentaries, plus a family-friendly animated adventure, this year’s festival once again showcases a full range of powerful recent work by award-winning, contemporary filmmakers.

Vancouver Art Gallery presents: Firelei Báez

PAST EVENT: Now till Sun, Mar. 16, 2025: The Vancouver Art Gallery hosts the first mid-career survey exhibition dedicated to the work of NYC-based artist Firelei Báez, one of the most exciting painters of her generation. The exhibition features over two dozen paintings, drawings and sculptural installations, created over two decades – all expansively vibrant and original, creating a sense of otherworldliness.

Shelley Niro: 500 Year Itch exhibition

PAST EVENT: Now till Mon, Feb. 17, 2025: Vancouver Art Gallery hosts Shelley Niro: 500 Year Itch, the first major retrospective of the award-winning Mohawk multimedia artist’s work. Created with sharp humour & irony, often using pop culture references, her photography, film, painting, installation, sculpture & mixed media works highlight themes that hold deep meaning for her: Matriarchy, Past is Present, Actors & Family Relations.

Jan Wade: Soul Power exhibition

PAST EVENT: Now till Sun, Jan. 5, 2025: The Art Gallery of Hamilton hosts Jan Wade: Soul Power in an exclusive showcase, following its 2021 debut at the Vancouver Art Gallery.
