Any Key Press

Any Key Press is a custom paper goods company with a love for print history and antique printing presses.

Owned and founded by Alissa Sokolski, this print shop focuses on letterpress and the techniques and technologies employed during the golden age of printing. Any Key Press is all about “vintage print for the modern age” (a great tagline that’s featured on their business card). The shop team includes Samson the dog; Max the cat; and printing presses Hank “The Beast”, Otto “Doc Ock” and Mighty Bruce – and together they proudly carry on the legacy of the Toronto print community.

Operating from the position that print is not dead and heralding the power of the press (both literally and figuratively), Any Key Press offers business cards, greeting cards, as well as a selection of reproduction art prints featuring vintage illustrations and designs. They also do bespoke wedding invitations and can add printed text to mirrors for any social occasion.

What we like about this print shop

Any Key Press’s love of all things paper and print resonates strongly with us. We also appreciate their dedication to continuing the legacy of Toronto’s rich print and publishing history and that they help keep the technologies of yesteryear alive.

Some of their presses are over 100 years old and we deeply respect the care they take, and effort they make, to acquire and maintain them. These are not machines that you can just pick up parts and labour for anywhere! And, of course, we love how they create printed paper products that celebrate special occasions, act as a calling card or present fun images and/or messages – all of which can serve as extensions of our personalities and personal taste, or as treasured mementos to look back on with fondness. We love print studios because they lend a tactile quality to words and images. That tactile quality makes for a sensory experience. That sensory experience is part of the flourishing offline life Young W helps you discover: by exploring PAPER and the other 8 pillars of Arts & Letters, including those you may be hesitant to try.
