Sonority Sisters

Sonority Sisters is a music duo comprised of orchestra musicians Clare Semes, violinist, and Kelly Zimba, flutist, available for live or virtual performances for gatherings and events. You can hire them to play for anything from weddings, to birthday and retirement parties, and private and public events, where they’ll perform a program of classical music and popular song requests.

Both musicians with the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, the Sonority Sisters was formed when COVID-19 shut down live events and performances. Recognizing Toronto’s appetite for live art, they were inspired to offer live performances around the city, playing in parks and for hire. Check out television segments from CBC and Global News, where Clare and Kelly discuss the genesis of Sonority Sisters.

What we like about these musicians

Like so many performing artists, Sonority Sisters found their livelihoods abruptly cut off at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, when all live performances and events were shut down – and no one was sure for how long. Forming a duo and pivoting to virtual and outdoor performances, their resilience and resourcefulness led to a new music venture, providing live music joy when people needed it the most!

If you thought classical music and musicians were too serious and stuffy – think again! Melodious and playful, they are highly versatile and offer a range of music styles, including popular songs. Picture them performing for your wedding or other important family gathering, or inviting them to play at an event for your organization or company, performing your favourite classical pieces and songs that are close to your heart.
